Emerging Chinese design studio Buzao has launched a new laminated dichroic glass collection Halo. The first batch of the release includes a range of display furniture, floor lights and a wall hanger. To mark its initial launch, Buzao created a pop-up gallery in Shenzhen Art Center in a joint effort with store. Stylish merchandise from the store was displayed across the compact space, with Halo display furniture acting as sculptural art pieces.
With the Halo collection, designers Peng Zeng and Ma Jieying from Buzao attempted to carry out multiple treatments and combination of coloured glass, exploring various optical trickery that expressed the multi-dimensional performance of light. This approach lies at the core of Buzao philosophy, which is all about having an emphasis on experimentation with unexpected materials and processes, often with unexpected results. With each new discovery, Buzao creates its ever-evolving body of work.
