Hotel G, San Francisco's newest boutique hotel, is just a stone's throw from Union Square. New York design office Hun Aw Studio was charged with renovating this 100-year-old property, including its art deco façade, and it kept original architectural elements where possible, maintaining the building's historical feel. Cross bracing has been exposed again after years of lying hidden, and the main staircase has been sandblasted down to its original cast iron finish. The lobby features concrete ceilings, pale hexagonal floor tiles and a pair of minimalist brass reception desks.
