LAYAN DESIGN GROUP is a multidisciplinary design firm offering a full range of design services to the high-end hospitality industry. Whilst these industries represent the core of our work, we are interested in a wide variety of possible avenues for our skills and experience, most notably select projects for private clients.
LAYAN DESIGN GROUP offers a complete design service from Masterplanning and Architectural Design to Interior Design, Lighting Design, Landscape Design as well as Furniture and Accessory design. In order to maintain a high level of design quality our team includes a range of outstanding international designers.
LAYAN DESIGN GROUP was founded by Johannes HARTFUSS in 2001 in Melbourne – Australia and has since established a reputation for creating innovative designs for a variety of different projects.
Our design philosophy values work that is sympathetic to the human form, in scale and proportion, which designs from the
inside, locating the person as the pivotal unit of measurement and understanding. The primary relationship of interior and exterior informs our approach to the integration of built and natural environments.
We value nature as much as the built environment.
In the past we have been able to work on a large number of projects around the world. The knowledge we gain from these experiences, both in terms of a country’s history as well as a people’s culture, flows continuously into our current work and helps us to push the boundaries of our design. We strive to be at the forefront of modern hospitality design while maintaining a strong link between history and tradition as well as the achievements of modern architecture in the 20th and 21st century.
For our work to offer substance and strength, both past and future need to be equally reflected in the design.
