‘T5’ aka the new JetBlue Terminal Five at JFK gave travelers a respite from their usually mundane air travel with six bold new ICRAVE-designed restaurants. The contemporary designs for Aeronuova (Italian trattoria); Piquillo (Spanish tapas); 5ive Steak; La Vie (French bistro); Deep Blue (sushi and Asian); and Loft Kitchen & Bar (global comfort food) depart (pun intended) from the traditional, subdued airport restaurant designs travelers experience all too often.
At Aeronuova, modernism meets retro glamour with classic Italian films displayed on sleek flat screen televisions. The interior of Piquillo is entirely clad in colorful mosaic tile, a nod to classic Moorish design. The screen wall of 5IVE Steak works as a partition, a visual graphic logo, and a window into and out of the restaurant. Deep Blue emanates an ethereal feeling of being in a water world complemented by a modern, clean aesthetic while La Vie has the look of a classic French bistro. Metal columns and faux wood beams give Loft Kitchen & Bar the industrial, raw feel of a Soho apartment.
ICRAVE also reinvented the gate hold area with “re:vive,” counter height tables where passengers can access touch-screen monitors to order meals delivered directly to their tables. These ICRAVE-designed restaurants offer an environment of high style, sophisticated design and contemporary graphics that even the most jaded travelers can enjoy.
